Northern California claims 48 of those counties.
So there's lots of places to go, sights to see, and things to do.
But it always amazes us just how many people really don't know very much about the northern part of our state.
So let's take a tour. Together we'll explore the California gold rush days and guest ranches nestled in the mountains.
We'll find where people go for the best white water rafting, kayaking, and canoeing.
We'll tour our state's best beaches for spotting the whales, surfing, scuba diving, or snorkeling.
Or where some of the favorite dining spots are in San Francisco Bay area... as well as other cities and towns.
Take a leisurely riverboat excursion up the Sacramento River.
...places to eat, and fun places to take the kids.
Sights to see... like active gold mines up and down highway 49.
Like Mammoth Lakes where we can catch rainbow trout at the base of the 101 foot waterfall at Rainbow Falls.
Or stroll through the land of the giants - Yosemite's giant sequoias - that is - and the towering coastal redwoods up in Humboldt county.
We'll tour Old town Sacramento.
Rest our heads at bed and breakfasts tucked away in quaint little towns.
Train rides. Hiking and biking trails. Out-of-the-way camping spots, and so much more.
We'll visit places like...
And if those aren't your particular interests, we'll seek out some little secluded rendezvous for charming weekend getaways... where you can enjoy soothing massages, romantic candle-lit dinners, and special reserve wines.
Or maybe a quaint little bung-a-low in some not-so-well-known hide-a-way.
Whatever your dream adventure is... Northern California's fun and just waiting for you.
So what do you say... let's get started!
