Okay... ready to tour some Yolo County wineries?
We hear their wineries are as diverse as its land. Anchored by two large, pioneering wineries...
One - located in the dry, hot northwest part of the county; starting when they planted 10 acres of grapes as an experiment in 1980... now becoming California's 21st largest winery, and...
The other - sits in the southeast part, where the vines are cooled by the breezes of the Sacramento River Delta.
And in between... we’ll find another 12 or more wineries; all of them family owned.
Let's head to one of Yolo’s tasting rooms to sample some of the wines. We hear it's often at no charge.
Also... more often than not, the winemaker himself will be pouring, or maybe his dad or mom.
Now... even though the following Yolo County
wineries claim to offer FREE wine tastings, picnic areas, and tours, it
might be a good idea to call ahead and ask before going.
Afterall... things DO change.

Wonderful wines here! I have to admit, several years ago I wasn't really a fan.
Over the past couple years, they've really buckled down and improved their wines exponentially. They have a huge variety -- both whites and reds. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their Chardonnay so much!! It's one of my all-time favorites....and I am quite the Chard snob.

Yesterday was our first time
to the Old Sugar Mill, and I am soooo glad we tried Todd Taylor Wines!
They had four wines available for tasting, and they were all delicious!
We ended up buying a delicious Tempranillo (it was described as "mouthwatering" on the tasting list, and that is exactly what it was!!) I can't wait to crack into it... then I'll have a reason to go back and buy more!
